Additionally, Lou’s will serve guests of Papago Golf Course in a convenient ordering window just for them, who can grab a quick bite before, during or after their round.
“We’re extremely excited to open our doors to the public,” said Joe Martin, food and beverage director for Lou’s. “There’s been an outpouring of support from the local community, and we can’t wait to begin serving the kind of food this area has been waiting for.”
Designed by renowned architectural firm Douglas Fredrikson Architects, Lou’s dining room gives off a cool-clean, stone-and-steel feel in a wide-open space made even more airy when the massive garage-style and wall-sized sliding doors are opened to a rich green lawn and golf course, towering trees and the city below. And the rectangular bar features outdoor seating on two sides when the windows are drawn up, offering spectacular views of the setting sun gleaming off Papago Buttes.
“Lou’s is the perfect place for anything from happy hour gatherings, watching the game with friends, family dinners or special occasions,” said Mike Conner, vice president, OB Sports – the management company responsible for day-to-day operations at Lou’s. “We want everyone who comes to Lou’s to feel invited and comfortable while they enjoy their meal.”
Lou’s also will host special events and weddings. The dining room and patio offers ample space for small-to-medium-sized groups and the adjacent enclosed event hall, Evie’s Pavilion, will cater to weddings and larger groups when it opens later this winter.
A unique public/private partnership was the driving force behind the new Lou Grubb Clubhouse – which houses Lou’s Bar and Grill – and was formed between the City of Phoenix, Arizona State University and the Arizona Golf Community Foundation reflecting the diverse community the new clubhouse is intended to serve.
The clubhouse was funded by a large donation from the Lou and Evelyn Grubb Foundation – a fund at the Arizona Community Foundation – assisted by their son, Dan Grubb, on behalf of the Grubb family. The restaurant is named Lou’s Bar & Grill in honor of Phoenix business icon, Lou Grubb, who ran an automotive empire in the Valley for decades.
Lou’s Bar & Grill is located at 5595 E. Karsten Way in Phoenix, Arizona as part of the brand new Lou Grubb Clubhouse at Papago Golf Course. OB Sports Management is responsible for restaurant, clubhouse and golf course operations. Reservations may be made by phone at (602) 358-7004 or online at www.LousBarAndGrill.com.
